When you get back to the test centre, debrief your learner by asking a few questions - encouraging him/her to reflect on their performance. Then look forwards to what will happen in the next lesson.
The example in the video is quite 'light' and only provided as a reminder that you need to de-brief. You might allow anything between five to eight minutes to complete the debrief process in regular lessons.
However...
In 2022 the exam lesson length was cut to 45 minutes. In this format, the DVSA suggest just three minutes for the debrief.
In the lesson debrief during your exam, start by asking the learner what went well and what they feel needs to be improved, and then follow up with your own thoughts. Finish by saying that you will discuss the lesson further when you have finished your business with the examiner.
