Straight-line reversing

The Straight Reversing introduction from Watch, Learn, Drive

It might seem strange that we are including something as basic as straight reversing in an advanced driving programme. But there are three key reasons:

  1. You will notice as the course goes on that we continually stress that the basic learners skills are the same skills as those used in advanced driving.

  2. You will need to be familiar with all skills in order to teach them - the best way to achieve full familiarity is to isolate the skills and practise them as specific exercises yourself.

  3. You might well be using Watch, Learn, Drive as part of your training tool-kit when qualified. Although we don't include all of the WLD videos in this course the content that we do include will go a long way towards familiarising yourself with what your customers will be viewing before and/or between lessons.

There is no specific practise project for this manoeuvre, however you will be applying the principles to all manoeuvres that include reversing.

Note that there is nothing 'advanced' about being able to reverse at speed - the advice to keep the speed down here is directly applicable to your test manoeuvres.
