Getting started
This, and the next two steps (see 'steps' at the bottom of the screen) will help you to get started with explanations about how to navigate through the course and overview of the course and Part-One exam.
Course Navigation
The SmartDriving i-Course has been designed to make navigation and access to information as easy as possible.
This page will give you a feel for the way that the i-Course is laid out. Scroll down this panel to find out more...
The left-hand panel
Where present, the left-hand panel holds the main information or instructions about the course unit - just to the right of the panel you will see a scroll bar. Using the scroll bar controls you can view all of the text in this panel.
When you hover over the scroll button it will turn green - if you then press and hold your left mouse button you can drag the scroll bar button to move the text up or down.
The scroll bar also has arrows - the top and bottom arrows allow you to manually scroll, the horizontal arrow is a play/pause control for auto scrolling the text.
The right-hand panel
The panel on the right is used to contain a range of information - this could be in the form of video, audio, photographs or bullet point presentations.
On this page we have demonstrated how the panel might contain more than one element - the three tabs each show different content. For demonstration purposed we have simply used pictures. Click on a tab for different content.
Note that not all the right-hand panels will have multiple content - some may just have a single photo, video or section logo.
The right column will sometimes be controlled by a scroll bar similar to the one that controls this panel - however the content will scroll horizontally and not vertically, there are also some pages with forward and back arrows enabling you to navigate the content.
Other pages
You will find some pages that do not have panels - these are usually reserved for longer text explanations or summaries and are just navigated with simple links taking you to the next or previous page.
Step-by-Step
At the bottom of the page you will see a menu bar with 'Step 1', 'Step 2', 'Step 3', etcetera. These are links to the other steps in the study unit. When you hover your mouse pointer over each step an info panel will appear telling you what that step is about.
Clicking on the 'Step' links will take you directly to the page with info for that step.
You will be directed when to move to the next step by the green text at the bottom of the page or panel (see below).
Top menu
You can use the drop down menu at the top of the page to reach any other page in the site at any time with a couple of clicks - first click to the unit, then use the steps menu.
Page by page
You can use the 'Previous' and 'Next' links (bottom right of page) to move through the course one page at a time.
Next: Click 'Step 2' or the 'Next' link for a brief overview of the theory course content.
