Joining the motorway - Introduction

On most occasions you will join the motorway via a slip-road and an acceleration lane, at other times you might join from a roundabout or simply from the extension of the dual carriageway.

The video clip on the right shows the basic steps required to negotiate the slip-road and join the motorway safely.

Watch the clip and then read the information on the following page (Step 3).

Later you will go out and practise joining a motorway - if there are no motorways in easy reach of your area practice the routine on a busy dual-carriageway.
