There are 3 DVSA tests that form the qualification of DVSA ADI (Driver & Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor).

The Theory and Hazard Perception Test is very similar to the learner driver test.
But, as you are an experienced driver, you will be tested to a higher standard and to ensure you have a greater understanding and knowledge, need to cover a lot more subjects.
The Test of Driving Ability is very similar to the learner driver test.
However, as an experienced driver, you will be expected to have and display a greater understanding and knowledge and be able to drive to higher standard.
The Test of Instructional Ability assesses your teaching ability.
You will be expected to demonstrate that you can teach a learner driver and be able fix any faults in their driving.
You will sit the tests in order (i.e. you cannot sit Part 2 until you have passed Part 1).
Once you have passed Part 1, you have 2 years in which to pass Parts 2 & 3.
If your 2 years run out, you will need to start again from the beginning and pass Part 1.
