The hazard perception part of the driving theory test will be updated with computer generated imagery (CGI) from next Monday (12 January 2015).
The test currently uses filmed video clips from everyday road scenarios but learners have often complained that the image quality is poor, and many trainers have found it difficult to develop a training strategy due to the natural occurring differences in the clips. Come this Monday though, this will change as the following sample CGI clips from the DVSA demonstrate.
Your pupils will probably not notice the change. The videos are of exceptional quality and as the ‘hazard’ has been designed, it is an awful lot easier to spot!
However, we did find some subtle differences in the scoring (simply because the DVSA no longer have to ‘make’ the scoring zone ‘fit’ the footage), so it is worth YOU as the trainer familiarising yourself with the new test.
