Think!, the government’s road safety campaign, has launched a new ad to drive home how much is missed by people when they’re looking at their phones whilst driving and how just a few seconds can change – and ruin – people’s lives.
The 90-second video starts with a fast-paced shot of a busy roadside seen from a car, lasting about 2.3 seconds. On-screen text asks, “Did you see the pink kitten?”
The rest of the video is a slowed down repeat of the first two seconds, and we see there are over 100 images of pink kittens in total.
But the one that really matters is being held by a young girl in the arms of her mother, who is about to be hit by a driver looking at his phone.

Chief Constable Anthony Bangham, National Police Chiefs’ Council Lead, commented;
“Driving while distracted by a mobile phone is completely unacceptable and puts everyone on the roads at risk of serious harm. Police are making use of the tougher penalties to clamp down on this dangerous behaviour – but we have to be clear that when you get behind the wheel it is your responsibility to stay focused and alert.
“As this campaign makes clear, it only takes a few seconds of distraction to change lives forever.”
