Anyone over the age of 35 will remember the Government’s Road Safety adverts on TV. Often badly acted and poorly produced at first, they became very effective in relaying important safety messages in graphic and gruesome fashion.
An infamous 1970’s advert on the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt
Whilst these adverts have long gone, The Department for Transport are making real efforts to get the safety messages to us all in unique and modern ways.
This month saw the launch of the Highway Code’s ‘Vine page’.
Vine?
If you are wondering what Vine is, you are not alone. Chances are you may have heard about this new social network that is supposedly gaining popularity pretty quickly.
Vine is a video-sharing app. But it’s not just any video-sharing app. It’s designed in a way for you to film short, separate instances so they can be linked together for a total of six seconds. Each short video plays in a continuous loop, and are viewable directly in Twitter’s timeline or embedded into a web page.
This is what makes Vine a great platform for short, sharp safety messages for the modern viewer.
And here are the Highway Code’s latest posts:
Once on the page, you can follow so these posts appear in your on Twitter feed without any effort needed from you!
