Basic talk-through/prompting skills: Introduction

If you have completed and mastered the commentary driving lessons earlier in this course talking skills should not pose too much of a problem. However, if you have not yet mastered commentary driving we strongly recommend that you revisit the Part-Two commentary projects and get plenty of practise.

'Talking' can be a major stumbling block for some Student Instructors, not because they are not good 'talkers' or conversationalists but because translating the road situation into easy-to-follow information in a moving environment takes time to master, hence our earlier emphasis on commentary driving.

The videos in this section are not designed as 'copy me' examples, they are simply to give you an idea of the ways that you will be using talk-through/prompting skills with your learners.
