Why did you want to become an instructor?
I wanted to do something which I could continue on after doing my current job as an Environmental Health Officers finishes and I currently coach athletics and genuinely enjoy helping people. After teaching my son to drive I decided that this was something that I would enjoy doing and will fit in with other roles I have and my lifestyle.
What did you do at the time?
My currently role is as an Environmental Health Officer working in environmental protection for about 25 years and it is time for a change and being an instructor is something that I can do along with my current job and all being well can reduce my ours and spend more time as a driving instructor.
What made you choose us?
After looking round at all of the training companies out there this was the only one that I could find was via distance learning which meant that I could do the training whilst still working full time.
What did you enjoy about your training?
I enjoyed the learning of a new skill, which can be used across other areas of my life.
What didn’t you enjoy?
The occasions when the timescale was tight, but this was essential to keep on track. The only other area was the wait between finishing the units and waiting for the part 2 & 3 tests but this is something you are not able to control.
What advice would you give another person looking to be an instructor?
I have already recommended Smart Driving to somebody else who is thinking about doing the training in the next 12 months or so and would have no hesitation in recommending Smart Driving to anybody else.
How has this changed your life so far?
Currently hasn’t changed things too much as trying to get things in place to start instructing but I am looking forward to having more freedom to work when I want and an option to change my career.”
