Covid Catch Up Webinars

 

With (most of us) in some form of Lockdown for the next few weeks, we thought we’d take the chance to catch up with you all and look at what we can do to work with you and our trainees.
 
So we’re hosting a few Webinars for the next couple of weeks… We’d love your input, questions, thoughts and observations on preparing trainees for P3.
 
As you’ll be aware from our webinars at the turn of the year, we’ve put a lot of resource into analysing the Part 3 and Trainee Licence process. We’ve seen several hundred P3 test reports and we have spent hours and hours on reviewing P3 tests with our customers.
 
This has given us some great topics to chat about in these Covid ‘Catch Up’ Webinars with you….

 
1. Why bother with a lesson plan…
 
Think about the following:
 
Where does a plan relate to on the marking sheet?
When is the “plan” marked by the examiner?
Is the student OK with a plan – do they fully understand what the DVSA mean by a plan?
Does the PDI have a plan A+? Where does plan B, (C?) fit and why?
What do you think about a lesson plan – how much do you see it and talk about it with the PDI?
How do the trainers role-play and achieve an adaption of “the “plan?

 
 

2. Do Goals equal Needs?
 

Think about the following:
 
Why do the DVSA list goals and needs in the same question?
Aren’t Goals and Needs the same thing?
Which comes first; Goal or Need?
Where do Goals and Needs relate to on the marking sheet?
Where do Goals and Needs fit in with the pupils/trainers “plan”?
How do you show the PDI what you mean by Goals a Needs?
Can we do anything with Themes and Frames about Goals and Needs or with the course structure?
How do we decide what a need is if the client’s/pupil’s goal is different?
Does the Need have to be tied into the Goal?

 
 

3. How do we introduce Part 3 into Part 2
 

Think about the following:
 
Why is this relevant?
How do they suggest we do it
Can we talk about risk at Part 2 training?
Where does this fit in with the “plan”?
Should we use a Part 3 sheet at Part 2?
Can we do anything with Themes and frames about goals and needs or with the course structure?

 
 

4. When do we introduce the Part 3 marking sheet in training?
 
Think about the following:
 

Should the trainee bring the sheet to the session?
Is this relevant to a training session?
Will it help the trainee understand the competencies?
What would the benefits/disadvantages be?

 
 

5. Role play and its effectiveness?

 
Think about the following:
 

Why role play?
Can a PDI role play you?
How do we get the PDI to train us?
How do we set up role play?
How do we link role play to the marking sheet once we have completed a “role”?
How do we role play the marking sheet?
How do we role play a mock test?
