If you have been following course as directed and getting plenty of practise your driving should now be methodical and you should have a good awareness of what is happening around you art all times. At this point in your preparation we would expect your driving to meet a standard where you could easily pass a basic (learner's) driving test. The next phase of your driving development is to develop your skills in different situations so that you reach the 'flowing experienced' standard required for ADI Part-Two.
Accidents, by definition, occur when a vehicle collides with another vehicle or other object. It, therefore, follows that if the gaps between vehicles and their surrounding environment were greater, then the expectation of collision would be less.
It's often said that 'speed kills' but the phrase is never qualified - speed doesn't kill... 'Bloodhound' the land speed record attempt car, is designed to reach 1000mph with the driver getting out alive. On the other hand, if you hit a toddler at 3mph you might kill him.
Any speed is fine - but you need enough space to stop safely. This unit is about becoming more 'defensive' as you drive and creating sufficient space for your speed when driving.
