Approaching junctions to turn left: Briefing example
Your goal:
To ensure that your learner is familiar with the full hazard routine and can use it to turn left from main roads into side roads.
Lesson's goals:
Learners need understand the need for and demonstrate appropriate actions at junctions including the ability to:
- Use mirrors appropriately on approach
- Time signals correctly without misleading
- Position correctly on approach to junctions
- Regulate speed correctly when approaching allowing for road and traffic conditions
- Select an appropriate gear for the turn without coasting
- Giving priority to pedestrians (when necessary
- Demonstrating an awareness of other road users and taking any appropriate action
- Make safety checks after turning
