Eyesight-checks project

The eyesight check is one of the first things that happens in all DVSA driving tests including ADI Part-Two. As you will see in the video, failing the check will lead to loss of the test fee and loss of one of your three attempts (the test will not go ahead if the eyesight check is failed).

Candidates are given a couple of opportunities to read different number plates - if they are unable to do so the examiner measures the exact distance to a third plate using the 'official tape measure'. If the candidate fails to read a number plate at the proscribed distance the test will be terminated.

The law states that all drivers of motor cars must be able to read a standard number plate, in good daylight, from a distance of 20 metres – with spectacles or corrective lenses if required. The requirement for driving instructors is 26.5 metres.

This project ensures that you can meet the driving instructor's eyesight requirement and recognise the standard distance for the learners' eye test.

For the project you will complete three eyesight checks.
